Note from the Principal

Dear CMS Families,

We are looking forward to connecting with you during our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences are by appointment only and will take place on the following dates and times:

Monday, February 23
6:00–8:30 PM

Thursday, February 26
8:00–11:00 AM
12:30–3:30 PM
5:00–8:00 PM

Please contact the CMS office to schedule your conference time.

Important Information for 8th Grade Families

8th-grade conferences will be student-led conferences. We ask that 8th-grade students attend conferences with their families and bring their fully charged school computer.

During the conference, families will hear directly from their student about their academic progress, as well as receive feedback from teachers. Teachers will also be available to answer questions and provide additional support as needed.

In addition, 8th-grade families may choose to schedule a one-on-one meeting with one of our HS school counselors to discuss registration questions for the upcoming school year. This meeting is optional.

When calling to schedule your conference time, please let the office staff know if you would also like to meet with the counselor. They will share availability and help schedule accordingly.

We look forward to partnering with you to support your students’ success.

Reminders

  • There will be no school on February 2nd for professional development
  • There will be no school on February 26th, 27th, and March 2nd due to parent-teacher conferences
  • Infinite Campus Emergency Contacts

Please make sure your child's emergency contacts are updated on Infinite Campus. The directions can be found on the CPS website safety page. If you need help, contact the Crete Intermediate office or the Welcome Center.

  • CPS App and Rooms Information

Many of our teachers are using rooms to communicate information about what is happening in the classroom. We encourage you to download the CPS app and sign up for Rooms. You can find helpful information on our CPS website.

  • For your child’s safety, please do not drop your child off for school before 7:30 AM. Staff supervision begins at 7:30 AM.

  • As cold weather moves in, please make sure your child has warm clothing (coat, gloves, hat, and boots for when it snows). Our students will go outside for recess as much as possible during the winter months (even if it is shortened). The students deserve a much-needed break in the fresh air.

  • If you would like to nominate a CMS staff member who goes above and beyond, use this link, and they could be recognized by the district office.

Attendance Updates:

Did you know...?

Attending school every day has impacts beyond elementary, middle, and high school. Research shows almost 90% of students who miss 15 days a year in high school drop out of college.

Prepare for the future by encouraging consistent attendance every day your student isn’t sick.
